Riverside Rovers Under 10’s Blues v Oundle Juniors  (01/10/11)

In temperatures more akin to July “The Blues” resumed their league campaign with a home match against Oundle Juniors. Alex Roe opened the scoring in the first couple of minutes with a close range effort. A second goal was scored by Kia Wood courtesy of a corner and Jude Bloodsworth finished a good move by adding a third just before half time.

Jude Bloodsworth scored a second goal monuments after the start of the second half. Due to the warm temperature the team was regularly rotated and all the squad was given an opportunity to play in different positions. Oundle Juniors pulled back a goal but Alex Roe scored his second goal of the game to make the final score 5.1 to “The Blues”.

Another good result with all the squad playing their part in an enjoyable game.

Riverside Rovers Under 10’s Blue V Yaxley White (24/09/11)

Our first cup match of the season saw “The Blues” at home to Yaxley White. “The Blues” dominated the first half but only managed one goal scored by Alex Roe. A rare break by Yaxley White saw them equalise from a long range effort.

The second half was evenly balanced when Mia Chirizia scored two goals in quick succession. “The Blues” then had a penalty kick but were unable to convert the opportunity. Yaxley White pulled a goal back before James Brown scored our 4th.  The final score 4.2 to “The Blues”. We now wait to find out who our opponents will be in the first round proper.

Riverside Rovers Under 10’s  Blue v Feeder Soccer (20/09/11)

On a very rainy evening “The Blues” continued their league programme against Feeder Soccer. The weather made it difficult to play football however both sides contributed to an entertaining game. There were a number of chances created by both sides during the first half but no goals were scored.

In the second half “The Blues” increased their tempo and played at pace and passed the ball very well. Midway through the half Theo Lewington scored from close range after a good passing move.  Feeder Soccer equalised and then with the match drawing to an end Mia Chiariza was in the right place to convert a long range pass. The final score was 2.1 to “The Blues”. Our first victory of the season. Well done to the team. It was a great performance from all of the players.

Paston Flyers v Riverside Under 10’s (17/09/2011)

Our third match in a week saw “The Blues” play an away match at Brookside, Walton on the 17/9/11. In windy conditions “ The Blues” started brightly however Paston Flyers gradually gained a grip on the game and started scoring goals on a regular basis. Four goals were conceded in the first half. Despite changing the team around we were unable to respond and conceded a further four goals to finish the game losing 8.0.

Hampton FC  v Riverside Rovers Under 10’s (13/09/2011)

Our first evening match took place at Beaumont Way, Hampton on Tuesday 13th Sept.  In very windy conditions Hampton FC scored first. With the advantage of the wind “The Blues” equalised when Theo Lewington scored with a close range shot after a series of good passing moves by our midfield and forwards. At half time the score was 1.1. Due to playing against the wind we changed our formation to 3.2.1. An early goal by Hampton was cancelled out by Alex Roe and when Hampton committed a foul in their penalty area Kai Wood scored from the spot. The match became very open with “The Blues” having a number of chances to increase their goal count but Hampton pulled a goal back near the end. The final score was 3.3.A very good and committed team performance!

Riverside Rovers Under 10’s Blue V Parkside Athletic Blue (10/09/2011)

On the 10/9/11 “The Blues” played their first game of the season at the Riverside Pavilion. Having played all our home games last season at Yaxley it was great to play on our own pitch.

The Blues started well by retaining possession and stretching Parkside’s defence. Our first goal was a close range effort by Jude Bloodsworth mid way through the first half. A second goal followed when Kai Wood ran from our midfield to shoot and score from distance. At half time the score was 2.0 to “The Blues”.

Within minutes of the second half Parkside pulled a goal back from a well taken corner. Having controlled the first half “The Blues” were now under constant pressure and our attacks were less frequent. The equaliser came after mid way through the half to leave the score 2.2 at full time.

Overall a game of 2 halves!
