About Our Club

Founded in 2008 and based in Peterborough, Riverside Rovers Football Club remains one of the youngest football clubs in Cambridgeshire. But in our short time we have enjoyed fantastic support from the local community and our membership has grown accordingly.

The coming 2011/12 season marks yet another fantastic milestone in our short club history.  This season we move to our own permanent home ground at the Riverside Pavilion in Sugar Way, Peterborough, with all the modern facilities and beautiful pitches that a community football club could wish to enjoy.  We feel this finally represents our coming of age and recognises all the hard work of our members to build a club that we can all be proud of.  Furthermore this season we are thrilled to announce the formation of no less than three new girls teams who will no doubt uphold the aspirations and standards of our club whilst enjoying playing the game of football.

We now regularly field a number of youth teams (both boys and girls) from Under 6's through to Under 15's and two adult teams. For information on our club, its members, facilities and our community principles and playing football for Riverside Rovers F.C. please take a look at our other pages.

Our Mission Statement

We strive to promote the development of children's football in the community without bias regarding race, creed, colour, religion or socio economic status.  Our affordable player membership and subscriptions provide football training and participation in organised football matches.  O
ur goal is to develop football skills in a positive, supportive and safe environment.  We encourage and promote ethical, moral behaviour, good sportsmanship and a passion for the game.  We are an affiliated Chartered Standard Club with the FA (Football Association).  Our aim is to develop player character, self confidence, discipline, dedication and a respect for both team-mates and opponents through quality coaching and adherence to the "Rules of the Game" providing the opportunity for all players regardless of their ability to attain their highest potential.  Our provision of football education and training for our players and coaches ensures a healthy, safe and enjoyable football experience.  Parent /guardians, friends and families are welcome at matches and to help support club activities.

Riverside Rovers Charity Campaign

Now have thirty eight pairs, thank you very much, please keep them coming, although we might need to buy Les a new washing machine !

As a football club we would like to try a new initiative, and ask you to consider donating any old football boots you may have to a worthy cause.  Not only will the boots be given a new lease of life with their new owners but it may also free up some space at the back of the cupboards and freshen the air around your home!

The aim of the charity Boots for Africa is to recycle your old boots and to distribute them to children of all ages across Africa who have never owned a pair of boots before.  All of these youngsters being very similar to ours in one very important way - they share with us the same passion for football.  Please take a look at their website (www.bootsforafrica.org) to find out more.

Should you decide to support us in our aim could I please ask that you clean your old boots, lace them together in a matched pair and give to your team manager to forward to me.  You might even want to consider asking around your sons friends and school mates to see if they have any old boots of their own that they may also wish to donate.

Should we be successful in gathering a sizeable number of boots we might even be able to arrange a photo with the local press to advertise our efforts and to further promote the charity across Peterborough.

Many thanks

Steve

Social Networking and Electronic Communications Guidance

As a club we are committed to protecting our players, the F.A. has published some guidance on how football clubs should use this form of media. We have also attached a policy from the NSPCC's child protection in Sport Unit and guidance from Greenwich Council on how to use the security settings. Could we please ask that you all visit our Regulations page to read and digest the documents to help us protect our young players?
